Andrew is a fourth-year medical student at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. A native of Texas, he graduated from Texas A&M University in 2017, where he was a member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. In 2020, he earned his master’s degree from Georgetown University. Andrew completed a summer research internship at the Medical University of South Carolina, focusing on the molecular and immunological mechanisms of partial heart transplantation, a new congenital cardiac procedure. While he continues his research in cardiac surgery, he is passionate about enhancing surgical education for medical students. He is particularly committed to expanding opportunities in cardiothoracic surgery and surgical research for students at smaller institutions. Andrew serves as the ACOS-MSS Research Committee Lead, where he develops projects and initiatives to broaden research opportunities for medical students of the college. In his free time, Andrew enjoys spending time with his dog, Radar, and working on his Ford Mustang. He is ecstatic to serve TSMA on the Projects/Proposals committee and hopes to help develop ideas and events that not only introduce students to cardiothoracic surgery but also support students pursuing the field.

Ahmet, a Jacksonville Beach native, is a Biomedical Engineering graduate of the University of Florida. Currently, he is a second-year medical student at the University of Florida College of Medicine, working towards his ambition of becoming an academic cardiac surgeon, fueled by his family's history of congenital heart disease and addiction to dark chocolate. Passionate about every facet of cardiothoracic surgery, Ahmet aspires to offer a fresh perspective to drive innovation and tackle the field's most significant challenges. In addition to his dedication to medicine and research, he derives fulfillment from his love for fitness, regularly engaging in weight training and competing in ultra-endurance events. Ahmet is honored to contribute to TSMA's continued growth and success.

Allen grew up in Chicago and attended Rice University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and Cell Biology/Genetics under the BA/MD program in conjunction with Baylor College of Medicine. Currently, he is a second year medical student at Baylor. As an aspiring academic cardiac surgeon, he is interested in pursuing research related to thoracic oncology, aortic disease, and minimally invasive surgery. Outside of academics, he can be found bouldering at a climbing gym or hiking through national parks. As a returning member of the TSMA Projects/Proposals Committee, he is eager to collaborate with fellow committee members and foster meaningful partnerships beyond the organization.

Mohammed Bappe is a native of Philadelphia and attended Swarthmore College, where he majored in history and education with a minor in peace and conflict studies. After graduating, he worked for the Federal Defenders office as a paralegal, representing men on death row for two years. This experience ignited his interest in medicine, prompting him to complete a career changer post-baccalaureate program at Temple University. He is currently a rising M3 at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
At PCOM, Bappe has served as the president of the surgery association, playing a key role in organizing a successful surgical conference. His research interests focus on addressing healthcare disparities among disenfranchised populations. Coming from a low-income, first-generation background, he is the first in his family to graduate from college. Bappe is passionate about uplifting various communities and making the field of surgery more accessible to all. He has a particular interest in thoracic surgery.
Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Bappe enjoys exploring different restaurants, is deeply committed to his faith and community, and loves watching MMA and basketball. He also practices Muay Thai, finding balance and discipline through the sport.
